Well, my friends. Absolutely. You have ever heard or seen about Bukit Tinggi town, one of the west Sumatera’s region which is known as tourist destination. More and less five thousands aboard and domestic visitors come to this town.
Bukti tinggi town has some interesting tourist objects visited such as Sianok canyon, panorama lands park, fort de cock tower, the Zoo, Japaness tunnel, hands carving market and Jam Gadang or the clock tower.
In this oppurtunity, I just want to describe to you about “Jam Gadang” or the clock tower, as a west Sumatera icon generally and Bukit Tinggi society especially. Most of us are well know it than others tourist objects above.
It’s located at the central of town and was build on 26th, June 1926 by Dutch collonial. It was used to deffend from enemies attacking, native people. It’s high is about 26 meters with four big watches side by sides. at the roof, made as like as Rumah Gadang which is like buffalo’s horn.
Now, Jam Gadang is be visiting place for visitors, and the government had been renovating it be more interesting as a historical building. besides that, some tourist facilities are also build around it e.g. : restaurants, hotel, shopping center, traditional market and tourist information office.
